Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas?

We all live in a “politically correct climate” and to be fair in our profession we totally understand and perceive the need for this.

Deafness & hearing loss are hidden disabilities and many of our customers and clients suffer discrimination on an almost daily basis. We understand their difficulties; indeed they are the very reason Deaf Umbrella exists.

Notwithstanding this, we want to wish all visitors to our website a very Happy Christmas! Here at Deaf Umbrella we unashamedly and proudly celebrate the Festive Season – we love it!

Christmas is often a time for reflection; New Year is definitely a time to take stock of your life and think about a New Start for a New You!

Are you qualified to a minimum of BSL Level 3 or above, have Note-taking expertise, are an RSLI, Teacher of the Deaf and maybe wondering where your career path is taking you? Are you in fact stuck in a rut and struggling to remember why you entered this profession? What motivated you to choose your current place of work, and is that sense of motivation currently missing from your working life?

Are these are questions you have been asking yourself as 2016 draws to a close?

We can help you “invest” in your inner voice – the one that spurred you on to this career path at the beginning of your Interpreting journey. We will support your career journey, make it interesting and inspiring and accompanied by like-minded professionals who wish to share the benefit of their experiences. We all spend a great deal of time at work – it is important that this time is enjoyable and productive. Our in-house staff development sessions allow staff to have a safe and confidential forum to discuss working scenarios – both positive and negative – and an atmosphere of support and inclusivity. In short, our staff feel valued!

“Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don’t want to”. We like this sentiment Sir Richard Branson; many of our staff have been with us for a great many years! They have honed their craft, developed and flourished and chosen to stay with us because our systems and processes work for them!

Healthy & Prosperous New Year to you all!
