Canine Partners is a UK charity that train dogs to transform the lives of people with physical disabilities.
Those amazing dogs bring a greater independence and quality of life to their partners, offering security, companionship, and practical help with everyday household tasks. These life-changing dogs also provide psychological and social benefits including increased independence, confidence, social interaction and self-esteem.
They are collecting used stamps to raise money to train dogs, and here at Deaf Umbrella we collect and donate them to help increase the budget.
WHY STAMPS?
There is a lot of interest in used stamps from artists and collectors and the
British stamps are particularly popular because of their variety.
When your stamps reach the sorting house they are weighed and priced by the kilogram. Before this they have to be sorted and excess paper is removed. This has to happen because the extra paper will lower the value of the batch.
7kg of stamps is equal to over £100 for the charity!
HOW TO TAKE PART?
Anyone can help; individuals, businesses and school children can all collect stamps for Canine Partners and help them raise money to train more hearing dogs. Cut/tear the stamps from the envelope leaving approximately 1/2 cm of paper around the stamp and send them to the following addresses:
