Part of the pleasure of Christmas is, of course, the excitement of the countdown to this annual celebration.
Many of us still enjoy our Advent Calendars – they aren’t just for children, are they?!
It is usually a decorative piece with a small window for each of the days of the month before Christmas. Each day a space or window is opened to find a different surprise. It can be chocolates, little gifts, quotes, an image or even a little tipple!... (they are not always suitable for the less patient amongst us).
OK... I know that you don't need an Advent Calendar to know that Christmas is coming - especially when everybody is bombarding social media with countdowns to Christmas 3 months in advance! However, opening a little numbered door to reveal a prize is an idea that everyone (religious or not) can get behind.
Here at Deaf Umbrella we want to join the Advent Calendar countdown and we will upload a new BSL video with Christmas vocabulary every day from the 1st to the 24th of December.
Keep up-to-date with our BSL Advent Calendar videos by following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or subscribing our fully accessible YouTube channel.
Without the help our wonderful staff and our fantastic Job Club clients to film the videos (thanks chaps!).
We really hope you enjoy our BSL Advent Calendar, and it helps you to learn new sign British Sign Language Christmas words.
To raise Deaf Awareness, please feel free to tag those who might be interested to enjoy and learn some sign language vocabulary while counting down to Christmas time.
Have a lovely time!
