As we head towards Spring and the new beginnings that this Season brings, it is clear that 2025 is going to bring us all challenges in the workplace. The Press is full of Doom-mongers writing stories which mark this year out for “financial meltdown”.
· Investors are said to be fleeing the UK
· There is talk of international trade wars
· A further Budget raid is on peoples’ lips
· Borrowing costs are set to increase
· Whitehall is talking of cost-cutting measures
· The Pound isn’t doing so well against the Dollar these days
· NI & Pension costs are set to rise for employers
· We are told the Government is having difficulties in balancing the books
· Public Sector wages are rising and taking the rate of inflation in the same direction
· Recruitment is apparently at its lowest level for many years
For those of us old enough to remember the dark and gloomy winter of 1976, which the 3 day week, miners’ strike, power cuts and so much more, the comparisons with that year are truly unwelcome!

However, whether we are employed or self-employed, there are a few things we can do the help ourselves stand out in a competitive job market.
