From time to time we all need to Spring Clean our lives! Go on – have a purge! There are many things in our lives that drain on our resources, both mental and physical. A good and meaningful cleanse of both the mental and physical clutter is extremely therapeutic!
It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and here at Deaf Umbrella we are committed to spreading positive information and support strategies to help you cope with mental health issues.
In our last blog posts we suggested you some good practices to look after your mental health during lockdown (read here), how "grounding" techniques help you to reduce emotional stress and re-charge your energy (read here), and we even made a list of random acts of kindness that will have a positive impact on your mental health and wellbeing (read here).
Now, why not try the following list of actions that we bet will bring you a really positive sense of freedom:
Hit "unfollow" on social media on all those negative newsfeeds! It will really help you to improve your mental health and you will be so much happier scrolling your positive social media feeds!
Donate unused clothes and toys. It is much better for the environment and it helps people in need. It will give you an ego a much needed boost too!
Declutter your kitchen cupboards of expired items. Get rid of anything expired or unneeded. Tidy out the ‘fridge and rummage through that freezer to do the same.
Purge your work cabinets. It will make you feel much better.
Clear your wallet of unused items.
Delete old apps you don't use. Rid your smartphone of apps that bring you down, waste your time, and invade your privacy.
Delete old emails in your inbox.
De-clutter your personal accessories. It will be difficult, but not impossible. Give it a try - it is extremely gratifying!
Update and organise your calendar.
Free up space on your computer hard drive – there, doesn’t that work so much better?
Now, how do you feel?
Did it work?
If so, please feel free to share this blog post with those who might need to feel the freedom and release!
