Most of you have heard about our Employment Search Support Programme. Many of you joined this service and we can proudly say that some of you got a job. Congratulations!
As you know, due to Covid 19 we had to close our Job Club during this pandemic.
This year we could be celebrating the 6th Anniversary of this much needed service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people! We are working hard to reopen this service and offer clients support with their search for employment and help them along the road to success again!
It costs around £10,500 a year to open the job club for 1 day a week and this is currently funded Deaf Umbrella solely, kind volunteers and by interpreters offsetting their time in lieu.
In 2019 we were lucky to be approached by LP Networks who are supporting us with our IT to be the charity of their choice. With a donation from LP Networks team, they provided some reconditioned PC’s to help us with our online activities. They also offered free IT support for every PC used by the Deaf Job Club, ensuring that our users had the right tools that they needed to take the first step on their career journeys.
Now, we are delighted to announce that LP Networks have donated £657.77 for the Deaf Umbrella Job Club. Where from? From funds raised by their team having fun with Fantasy Football and Quiz Nights.
Fielding an LP Networks Fantasy Football team costs just £10, with 50% of profits going to our Job Club for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people and the rest making up the prize fund:
2021/2022 Prize Breakdown:
1st place: 25% prize fund
2nd place: 10% prize fund
3rd place: 5% prize fund
4th place: Free entry for next season
Last place: The LP Networks wooden spoon!
Manager of the month fund: 10% prize fund
We can't be more grateful for this great achievement and we intend to use this money to support the reopening of the Job Club. More equipment and much needed screens to separate our computers to ensure a Covid-19 safe environment will support Deaf people searching for employment online.
Thank you very much to the LP Networks team.
We are looking forward to opening our doors again soon. So, keep your eyes peeled… the preparation is well underway!
