Specialist Access and Learning Facilitator
This is an umbrella term for a variety of roles enabling Deaf students access to education. This could be the BSL Interpreter, A specialist One to One study skills support, Language Support Tutor, Teacher of the Deaf, Specialist Mentor or Assistive Technology Trainer. Each role is specialised and the individual will have expert knowledge and skills in their area.
A Specialist Access and Learning Facilitator may work on a one to one basis with the Deaf student, coaching them in skills such as English, Maths, organisation, revision or any other skill that will enhance their learning experience. The Specialist Access and Learning Facilitator will tailor the support to suit the needs of the deaf student.
Also, remember that you could apply for a Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) that would pay for extra equipment or communication support.
